Performance Outcomes Beyond Expectations

Success is Hiding
Finding Success Where it Hides
One of the most unfortunate issues affecting
performance in the workplace today is that success goes unnoticed every day.
Individuals manage to do their job, and may often go beyond the call of duty,
but nobody is there to notice. These hard working people don't feel it would be appropriate to call attention to their minor "wins," so they
let their small successes vanish in the air.
However, it is disregard to these small actions that often ends up building frustration and anger in the individual. Going unnoticed once is one thing. Going unnoticed every day, every week, every month... that leaves the individual feeling unappreciated.
It has been said that the worst thing you can do to someone is to ignore them, to disregard their existence.
Not celebrating the small successes that happen every week means ignoring the person behind that success. Managers owe it to the employees to show appreciation for opportunities disguised under the veil of routine
Performance improvement is as much about stretching ourselves to the next level, as it is about making sure our footing is strong and secure. Appreciation for what we do every day ensures a strong footing.
