During tough economic times, corporate visions and plans are often revised to withstand the storm. These revisions require changes at many or all levels of the organization, and managers need to be prepared to guide staff through these changes.

Communication is the first, and perhaps most important step in preparing staff for change. The challenges employees will endure, can only be managed with timely messages and openness.

The bigger the change, the bigger the challenge. Keep in mind that no matter how much you believe in the plan, if your staff don't stand along with you, the plan is primed for failure.
